Pest control ideas to help control pest problems in the home and business

Ants, Earwigs, Sow bugs & Other Pests

Move your garbage collection area away from the house, or keep in metal bins, with tight lids.
Store firewood away from your home.
Caulk around doors, windows, and utility inlets.
Install sump pumps in crawl space that are prone to standing water.
Make sure all doors and windows are properly screened.
Repair cracks in foundation walls, especially basements.
Keep gutters and downspouts clean of debris from trees, etc.
Keep grass cut down especially around the home, or other outbuildings.
Trim shrubs, trees branches, & bramble bushes, away from your home.
When leaving for a weekend trip, make sure to properly close and secure the pet door.

Cockroaches, Stored Food Pests & Others

Clean up any spilled food and crumbs immediately.
Clean out drawers or cupboards that may have crumbs in them.
Periodically Inspect around stove hinges, & behind electrical appliances.
Keep food in air-tight containers; make sure lids are properly closed.
Keep appliances and counters clean of grease and food.
Thoroughly inspection new & used appliances or electronics before bringing them into your home.

Fleas

Vacuum thoroughly in areas where your pets spend time. Dispose of the vacuum bag outside of the home.
Give your pet a flea bath.
Keep your pets on a product recommended by a veterinarian to help prevent flea outbreaks.
Wash pet bedding often & in hot, soapy water.
Inspect pets for fleas and ticks often, especially in summer.
Don’t spend extra money on a "flea bomb" that didn’t work.
