Carpenter Ant Control Problems

Carpenter Ant Control

Carpenter Ants come in different sizes, depending on their rank & age. Quite commonly these ants are referred to as “BIG BLACK ANTS”. They are wood destroying organisms. Carpenter ants often start a nest in decaying wood. We found a large colony of carpenter ants in Everett, WA infested in the home. This posses a significant problem - because once established they may extend their tunneling into sound wood affecting additional parts of the home and causing a significant amount of damage to the structure. An environment like Everett, Mount Vernon, Bellingham, Sedro Wooley and Burlington, WA is ideal for carpenter ants because of the wooded areas.

Carpenter ants usually go dormant for the winter months. This means Carpenter ants could be in your home, but you wouldn’t necessary see them until spring, depending on how warm your house is kept. During the first warmer days of spring, May & June, you may start seeing carpenter ants in or around your home. If you are seeing quite a few (10-20) big black ants inside your home on a daily basis, see little piles of saw dust in or around your home, or hear rustling noises inside your walls, you may have a carpenter ant problem. If you notice any of these signs please contact us.

Moisture Ants are small and chocolaty brown in color. They often live and feed on rotting decaying wood. They can also be found in damp soil. Moisture ants also tend to feed on sweet materials as well. They are not considered a wood destroying organism, but they can help speed up the decaying process. By fixing any moisture problems or damp soil areas the ants should go away. They can’t survive without that rotting & decaying wood.
